Ilri tagging guidelines

The secret of our re-use of content across the various systems is to tag (or index) each individual item.
Principles include: - In tags, always enter the name of a country that the object is about (‘ethiopia’ or ‘burkina faso’). - Always assign ‘ILRI’ if the object is about ILRI or an activity of ILRI. - Try to assign one or two region or subject categories from the list on the next page. - In wordpress blogs: the categories are pre-defined. Other systems ask for tags. Use the guidelines above. - Dspace uses a more detailed, approach - Try to also tag outputs by organization units and major initiatives that produce or create an object. - In delicious, compound terms 'east africa' are 'east_africa'; on slideshare, compound terms are: "east africa"; etc
On the social media we use various grouping mechanisms to facilitate re-presentation, eg: - sets on flickr - playlists on youtube - groups on slideshare - categories on wordpress blogs
