Revision as of 07:46, 14 September 2021
The secret of our re-use of content across the various systems is to tag (or index) each individual item.Principles include:
- In tags, always enter the name of a country that the object is about (‘ethiopia’ or ‘burkina faso’).
- Always assign ‘ILRI’ if the object is about ILRI or an activity of ILRI.
- Assign one or two region or subject categories.
- In Wordpress blogs, the categories are pre-defined. Other systems ask for tags. Use the guidelines above.CGSpace uses a more detailed approach.
- Tag outputs by organization units and major initiatives that produce or create an object.
On social media, we use various grouping mechanisms to facilitate re-use, for example, sets on Flickr, playlists on YouTube, groups on SlideShare andcategories on Wordpress blogs.
